It's a QCOM Q802XKG.

The manufacturer does not supply drivers.

Back to Vista I think or replace the WLAN card with an Intel 3945 which is the verified card for this notebook.
See Here
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product ... 6&lang=eng

The QRC 430 is made by Quanta and the ODM model is TW3M which should have the Intel WLAN.

THE Dixons Group gets manufacturers like Quanta to change the spec for cheaper parts which frequently do not have proper support and thus the purchaser is SCREWED.

Moral
DO NOT BUY ADVENT UNLESS YOU CAREFULLY RESEARCH EVERY PART OF THE PROSPECTIVE PURCHASE.

Rant over

Huh, i've faced completely the same problem. I'm very surprised that drivers for Q802XKG are not being provided for XP, haven't thought such a thing is even possible.

I don't like vista and migrating back is not an option for me, so i want to purchase intel 3945 card. I've found two products on amazon matching this query. But because i am new to laptops (this QRC430 is actually first laptop i've ever had), so i'm not quite sure, which one is the right one to purchase.

Here are the links:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-Wireless- ... B000F6IL6Y
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-Wless-394 ... 064&sr=8-1

Hope for response.

Update.

HOLD EVERYTHING!

Just out of curiosity I downloaded the Vista drivers for this from the TechGuys to see what the QCOM card is.

The .inf file is Ralink so it looks like it's a Ralink chip on the card.

Could one of you try the Ralink drivers for USB(RT257x/RT2671).

It's the second item down the list

Huh, it's something! :)

I've downloaded and installed these drivers. Good news already are that in device manager WLAN card is not marked as unknown device anymore and is being marked as a RT73 USB Wireless LAN Card. I'm in the office now so i can't test wireless connectivity. In evening when i come home i will test it within our network.

Thanks!

Ive downloaded and installed the driver. Device seems to be installed properly - no warnings - configuration tool runs but cannot find any networks...so Ive borrowed my friends laptop just to see if there is any wifi signal...It found over six networks in the area...

When you installed the wireless driver and setup program asked you what diagnostic tool to use have you chosen the "Microsoft zero tool" or left the default "RaLink tool" option?

The native ralink tool does not only look ugly it's also is not flexible enough. So what i did i have uninstalled drivers and installed them back again but with Microsoft tool being chosen. Two networks have been found in range, including mine home network. :)

Driver is the Setup in which Company loads the Device Configuration. We can also Say it's a Interface between the Computer or Hardware. If You Want to Find the Driver Then You can Get it From the Official Site of the Your Laptop Manufacture. When Ever You Download the Driver at that Time You must Have to Specify Your Operating System other Wise You can't able to Find the Perfect Driver For Your Device.
