Problems with CD's

Hi. My sister in law has an advent laptop (sorry unsure which model) - unfortunately she doesn't have net access so I am trying to solve a problem for her.

Basically windows media player for some reason has stopped playing music CD's although it is quite happy to play DVD's! Put in a CD and it doesn't exist as far as Windows is concerned!

Have looked at a few things, checked that she has a tick in the box for Media Player as the default for CD's - she has. Have looked at uninstalling/reinstalling the software but can't locate it the program list or uninstall programs on Control panel.

Any ideas anyone??

Try download windows media player 11 [xp sp2 required or vista]...that way you can just upgrade media player and should reinstall the newer codecs aswell. you WONT need to uninstall the old version first.

This will only solve your problem if media player moans that it cannot find the correct codecs or what not. If its giving an error please inform us of it.

If your problem in install the media player that means may be in your computer virus so media player was corrupt so it is not working so please reinstall the media player or then after check your solution may it will be solve other wise you can reinstall your operating system.

You should reinstall OS drivers again then install media player latest 11.0 version because your some window applications may be corrupt so install media player with updated windows. You should scan your system with updated antivirus because virus can be a cause of corrupt media player files.
