Advent 7113 - Wireless problems

Postby garliadr » Sat Apr 14, 2007 10:37 am

Hi All,
Recently bought this laptop from PC World, had it for about a month now but have found one annoying problem. I am using wireless to connect to my home network and everything is fine, until, suddenly I will lose the connection. I have 2 other pcs in the house that are still fine.
Even with the laptop sitting right next to the router it still doesnt recognise the network. If I restart the laptop, the network connection returns and all is OK again!
Anybody had/got same issue.

Incidently, vista update installed new drivers a couple of days ago but this has made no difference.

Oh also if you can acces the routers settings page from another computer try changing the channels and see if each one makes a difference

I've just changed the wifi router from a Belkin (I didn't orginally supply it) to a linksys, much better router if you ask me and all seems fine. The laptop connected every single time.

Why is when you set up system for other people, it never work straight away!! Even tho. you how set up millions before...Grrr..

:?

p.s. I noticed that the advent 7113 model is known as a L51II and contains a mini wireless card Msi 6877 which has specific vista drivers, that might also help!

Belkin Wireless

Postby lonespud » Fri Apr 20, 2007 10:29 am

Hi - this is a similar problem, so i dont know if I need to post a new thread or ask you guys - you may know.

Have had my advent 7113 a couple of months now. when I first started using it, it recognised my belkin wirelss immediately, nd I was ready to go online without the need to plug anything into the laptop, which surprised me as I expected to hav to plug in an adaptor. after a couplem off weeks, it just stopped working, and now I can only go online if I plug an adaptor in to the usb port. apart from that I have no problem connecting, but I presume that as it worked before without, it must have one built in? how can I check this, and have i turned it off or disabled it somehow? I did a couple of restores a while back, and that kicked off problems with my AVG software -n could that have affected it?

I am on Vista, and ahve run all updates that have come my way.

any help would be useful???

thanks

the reason your laptop wont connect to the wireless network, is because the defult wireless card has been set to your belkin adapter. basicly when you installed the softwere for it, the laptop thinks thats the only wireless card. to fix this go to devise maneger. to do this serch devise maneger in the serch box. then you'll get a list, click wireless cards. then click on your belkin one and deactive it. then on that same list will be the built in one. click on that and push activate. done :)
