Just an update for anyone with a similar problem. This may be old news to some but even if it helps one person its worth me posting.
On further inspection it was not the plastic bezel that was the problem it was the actual hinges. One was completely snapped and the other had a crack that was 90% across the entire hinge width. Ebay proved ineffective in that only a right hand hinge was available at £16 if memory serves.
I had the idea to enter the manufacturing code stamped along the length of the actual bracket and was overwhelmed that the search result brought up 2 hinges but for a Levano laptop. These hinges seemed to host a vasty different fixing. On looking at the photos I thought that the additional fixing component could be removed manually and for £7 thought what the hell.
With a couple pairs of plyers I was indeed able to remove the surplus fixings and would you believe it the hinges fitted.
I can now open and close my laptop as if it were new!!
It might not be the prettiest laptop nor the quickest but it does what I need it to do and I have saved myself a small fortune. I was really reluctant to buy even a reconditioned laptop at £100 on the basis that my one, electronically at least, still worked.
If this helps anyone - my work here is done!! Should I be able to help anyone furhter please let me know
