Advent 7088 - Windows XP Home - Wireless

Postby Gizboyd » Wed Aug 24, 2011 5:56 pm

Hi
I have an Advent 7088 laptop on which I reinstalled XP, unfortunately I did not make a recovery disk. I have managed to get most things working but I am struggling with the wireless driver. Does anyone have a recovery disk which would solve my problem ? I apologise in advance if I have breached protcol but I have spent so much time searching for the driver that I feel like depositing said laptop in the bin.

Help please !!!!!!!!!!!!! Gizboyd

If you have an Advent 7088 could you please check out the driver for the wireless card.

The 7088 wireless chip is probably the Marvel Libertas although several others were fitted to 331/G335 model range by the manufacturer, ECS.

Firstly thanks to Ranibeke for the advice and link. I have downloaded the driver and my laptop now sees available wireless networks. The problem now is that I cant see my wireless network and the Libertas icon in the task bar advises that my wireless card is unplugged. I can unplug my ethernet cable and still see wireIess networks - so the wireless card is working despite the "unplugged" warning. Ho Hum. ???????????

Solved the problem that I was having.

Installed Ralink RT2500 Version 3.00.01.0000 Wireless Network Adapter
Disconnected Ethernet cable
Powered router off
Powered router on
Laptop identified networks within range ( Mine being one of them )
Connected to my network
Entered key.
Back on line with wireless connection.
