5302 New Hard drive problems

5302 New Hard drive problems

Hi anyone assist with information with regards to installing new software on newly installed hard drive and how as it will not accept anything at moment , together with advise how thanks

A bit more info would help.
How far have you got installing the hard drive, does it appear in the BIOS and what software are you trying to install.

Thanks for reply , details are as follows : new hard drive installed 500GB western: WD2500BEV , First try was BOOTMGR missing then tried Hirams boot , tried XP got halfway through asked for drivers ???? problem again , tried Windows 7 same so really stuck here 62 YEARS OF AGE TRUCKER and would like little help if possible just a hobby but determined to learn if you can help,

Go to the Western Digital website and download the hard drive diagnostic utilities. Run from CD and check that the drive is ok.
Then write zeros using the diagnostic utility to the first and last sectors and try a reinstall of Windows 7.
XP is not a good idea as it needs drivers installing from a floppy disc during the install process or a new install CD slipstreamed with the drivers.
This means using a utility called NLite to make a new CD which includes the drivers.
