I'm hoping someone on this board can help me before I go bald from hair-pulling! I recently got an old Advent laptop for my Mum and we thought it'd be ideal for her. Trouble is I can't turn off the blasted Tap-to-Click thing! It's bad enough for me dealing with it's constant annoyance, but my Mum's a pensioner and I can't see her patience lasting too long with it.
Now, I know it's a driver issue, but no matter what version driver I use it's still showing as a "Standard Pointing Device" in Mouse Properties. The Tap-to-Click option which should show if I right-click on the taskbar icon is greyed out also. I've spent the whole of today trying to find a compatible driver, but literally nothing works!
I started off having XP Pro installed, but had trouble with the WLAN so thought I'd try W7 and it's fine with that. Couldn't find touchpad drivers for either OS.
Having done more Googling today than I'll probably do all year, I found that the touchpad I have has an id of SYS0804 and this seems to be a difficult touchpad. Some chap had two Advent PC's exactly the same and the driver would work on one but not the other! I'm starting to think this was not the good buy I thought it was.
Does anyone have any idea of where I can find a W7 touchpad driver that will actually work?
Thanks for your time!
Ex.
