If anyone still has the letter, is there an address or phone number on the letter for advent or whoever is dealing with this issue?

Regards

This is something they've known about for quite some time: I have been sent 2 letters over the last 12 months.

My Advent is 2 years old. How I wish I'd taken it back to PC World within guarantee:

1. The battery hasn't worked for months.
2. When it did work, it had a very short life
3. The computer has frozen at least once a day over the last 12 months
4. The Motherboard has just given up the ghost - quoted £160 but it feels like throwing good money after bad

I will never buy an Advent again

YES I JUST REGISTERED TO SHARE THIS AS WELL !

I`ve just received a phonecall from Advent telling me that the battery on my wife`s laptop is faulty and is being re-called.They will send out a replacement within the next three days.
I signed on here to check it was not some elaborate scam and find the problem is quite widely spread.
Battery out and ready to be replaced.

I received a phone call yesterday too and it was the first I knew about it. I think I might have received a letter a few months ago but thought it was one of these extended warranty one's so I binned it. I received a letter today though so thought I would do a bit of research online.

I was also suspicious about this. Has anyone actually received a new battery and if so did it work??

The address on the letter is Advent/Eisystem REcall, PO Box 1687, Sheffield, S2 5DD for anyone who needs it, no phone number.

Still suspicious though!!! :|

My laptop has done the same thing. I bought mine 3 years ago and i've had it sent off multiple times, but now i think my garentee has run out.
It crashes at least once or twice, and when i lose connection, it can't find it again so i have to reset my laptop and then it works again.
Also, it heats up like CRAZY and then turns off. ALSO, i've been through about 11 chargers up to yet, coz they've all burned out or the fuse broke because my laptop simply fried them. My battery life was like.. 20 mins off the charger, and that was if the battery ran out rather than turning off due to being too hot :S

I got two letters one said to check and when i did, i was eligable. And then i got another saying they were wrong and that they'll send me one for free, and i went WELL made up. THEN, when i got it, i took my old battery out, but the new one in.. and now my screen doesnt work AT ALL. It's destroyed the display screen :S pitch black.

Im sending it off and tbh.. if i have to pay anything, AM I HELL. I've already went through more than £400 in chargers :S
I'm trying to find a place to send a letter of complain coz it's just ridiculous and they've destroyed my laptop

The place to complain is Dixons Stores Group head office. Advent is a DSGi brand name not a computer company.
Maylands Avenue
Hemel Hempstead
Herts
HP2 7TG

The website is
http://www.dsgiplc.com/Layout.aspx?CatI ... a034bfd262

I would also involve ConsumerDirect as you probably have sufficient grounds for a refund of most of what you paid or a replacement under the Sale of Goods Act.
http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk
They also have a set of complaint letter templates.

I received the recall letter and followed instructions etc , received confirmation email and text saying my new battery would be delivered yesterday so stayed in ALL day and nothing arrived !! Contacted DPD deliveries today to ask where it was and they have said it hasn't been dispatched by suppliers so WHY get me to take a full day off work Arghhhhh  I am so mad and can't stay home every day "just in case" someone turns up !?!?! The annoying thing is the text and email arrived on the 21st and said please make sure someone is home to sign for consignment on 22nd ! What happens now

at least you got told they dispatched it... I have had no information at all from it said on screen that the battery was successfully ordered. I cant find any information anywhere to contact them. Thinking of contacting trading standards about this.

Did you have to fill in your email and mobile number when you registered for your new battery ? :?:

Good idea, on my confirmation text you get the option to reply and change the delivery date so I might try that ! The confusing part is the email AND text I received was from Tech Guys but with the DPD (delivery) email and number ?? So are these the same people or two different companies ! I just don't get it as DPD said they had it and was going to be dielivered yet when I mailed them they said it hadn't been dispatched by the supplier :-$ I shall wait for another reply email ....
