I have owned the Advent Laptop 8117 for a little over 2 years.
Recently I had 1 "line" appear across my screen, within the last 2 days 2 more "lines" have
appeared.
Does anyone know what these are and what is causing them?

Are they present on starting up or only appear after you've been using it for a while.
It does sound like there is a graphics problem either in the TFT screen or the display processing unit (gpu).
I would try connecting an external monitor to the notebook and check if the lines are showing on it. That would indicate if the gpu was causing the problem.
