If you have an HDTV, you better combine, using a VGA cable. Gives much better quality S-Video and S-Video cable, which is very cheap. You usually do not find a VGA port on regular TV is, though, so this option if you have an HDTV.

I can connect my laptop to my flat screen TV just using the VGA cable then turning on the laptop (my flatscreen has the pc input socket)
