advent 7109b can't restore....

I have an advent 7109b laptop and tried to do a complete format and reset everything using the built in restore thingy on the hard drive.....half way through i got some error messages and foolishly removed the battery thinking i could start again...... when i restarted the hard drive was wiped and i couldnt carry on with installing xp etc...i did make recovery disks , but again like an idiot i lost them.

I have tried to use the recovery disks i made from my dads advent laptop, a 6301 but these didnt work either, i presum because that laptop uses vista and my 7109b uses xp.... anyway long story short is there anything i can do to sort this, buying the recovery disks is a last option as i cant afford it at moment and im not 100 % sure it will fix everything....I also tried using a downloaded file caqlled fixdiskv1 and burnt it to cd but again that also comes up with an error message after 10 seconds or so, any help would be appreciated very much, havent had my laptop for a while and i miss it...

Hi sorry to hear about your problems.
I do not have the 7109B but have a very similar 8111. They are both the same under the skin so it may be worthwhile trying the 8111 recovery disk. PM me if it's 'the last chance saloon' situation

Hi Scoot, just noticed you're hosting the recovery disc for the 7109b...

I'm replacing the drive for a friend of mine and and didnt make a recovery disc when he first bought the laptop. i'd be really greatful if you could share it with me.

I seem to have a problem sending PM's. They are just sitting in my outbox.

I need to get a disk to allow me to re-install XP on my son's girlfriend's Advent 7109B machine. The disk has been initialised and my genuine XP disk won't install, probably because the SATA drivers are not included in XP.

If you have a disk that can reinstall XP on the machine, I would be very relieved if I could get hold of a copy.

Following advice from Scoot, I have now downloaded the 26 .rar files. Now all I need to know is what to do with them.

I have tried to download the rar files, but I keep getting a file deleted message when downloading files 11 and 25. If anyone still has these files would it be possible to send them to me please.

I know a lot of time has passed but I'm trying to fix my sons laptop and am getting nowhere. He gets stuck on boot-up with the SPTD.sys error. I can't get into the recovery mode by tapping F10 as the advent website suggets so am really lost.

Is the recovery disc still available for a £1 ?

PM or reply, Id be delighted to get this done as soon as possible as its been driving me mad for months.
