This site is for UK Advents not models sold in mainland Europe. Nordic is Swedish Advent.
There is no online support for them by Advent company DSGi

Re: Your Advent Model Number 8212

You are probably looking for the 8212. To see the full spec Google Currys and put Advent 8212 in the search box to see the full spec and latest price of £370. These may be some of the ones that have been returned because a number of them suffered from sudden shutdowns for no apparent reason. Hopefully they have managed to solve this problem. If you are being offered it elsewhere the seller may have been getting these shutdowns so beware. Currys offer a six month warranty and I imagine would refund if necessary during this period whereas a private seller would not !!!

Sorry, I hadnt read the entire post. The first post in the thread didnt mention the 7083 so thats why I posted. Maybe you could update the first post to reflect the entire submitted list?

Also a little bit more info on my 7083. I have read here and elsewhere that the 7083 was sold by PC World. The system information screen on my laptop specifies the system manufacturer and model as DIXONSXP, so I assume it was sold by DIXONS.

Also, I have read that the bios in the 7083 is Phoenix, but the bios in mine is AMI.

Hi Jurdz

The Advent brand is sold in the UK by Currys, Dixons and PCWorld, all part of the DSGi (Dixons Stores Group international). This is the reason your laptop has a "Dixons" BIOS and may have Dixons on the Windows COA. It could have been purchased originally in any of the stores.
The incorrect BIOS info, if it came from The TechGuys (the DSGi Support brand) is a common problem with quite a lot of info there.

Don't forget that if the ODM altered the design of the PC in between batches then it is possible the writeup could have been correct on the pre-sale machine the Techguys used to produce the writeup, and (some of) the ones which went to "press".

for information, I've split the list to a separate thread.

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4736

Please check with that list before adding any further information.

Please also do not post requests for drivers or BIOSes, etc in this thread. Please create a new one. Members doing this will be given a warning.
