Advent 6418 not booting

Hi all, i recenty fitted a new 512 ram module to a working machine ( i left 1 128mb in ). it booted and showed 6536.. memory BUT on fitting the cover it would not boot. i swapped the old ram back but it still doesnt boot. the fan is going around and the green power light is on ( flashes orange at first) mmmmmm
